AEOLOS was founded by students of ETH Zurich and operates as an independent association. It is the organisation behind its projects, and not itself a product or aircraft.

Each project has its own team and technical scope. Zephyr developed a fixed-wing research drone. Boreas is developing a design automation pipeline for kinetic interceptor drones.
